Their "Kienzle design" range from the 1970s embraced bold, architectural forms — moving away from traditional dial layouts toward the sculptural, minimalist aesthetic that defined West German design of the era. This piece, signed "Kienzle design" and "Made in Germany" on the dial, is a genuine example of that range.

Layered black and brushed aluminium

The design is confidently architectural — a deep black case steps down through two recessed tiers to a brushed aluminium inner ring, with twelve chunky brushed aluminium baton markers set against the black outer face. Polished stainless steel hands sweep across the dial with real presence, and the original quartz movement has been retained rather than replaced — a genuinely well-preserved example of 1970s German clock engineering. The plastic case has been cleaned and re-polished, bringing back its original deep black finish.

At 30.5cm (12 inches) across, this is a substantial, confident piece — bold enough to anchor a wall on its own, with a graphic quality that photographs beautifully.

Specifications

Manufacturer: Kienzle — Made in Germany

Range: Kienzle design

Era: 1970s

Material: Black plastic case, brushed aluminium markers

Diameter: 30.5cm (12 inches)

Movement: Original quartz movement retained — polished stainless steel hands

Style: Space Age, layered dial, baton markers

Ready to hang

Condition

Excellent vintage condition.
