Ready to hang.

Kienzle — one of Germany's great clockmaking names

Kienzle was one of the largest and most influential German clock manufacturers of the 20th century, producing everything from classic mantel clocks to bold mid-century wall clocks that defined the look of the German home through the 1960s and 70s. The Variogong range sits firmly in that design tradition — architectural, geometric, and built with genuine materials rather than plastic trim, at a time when Kienzle was pushing clock design into sculptural territory.

A design built around contrast

The octagonal teak case gives this clock real presence on the wall, while the brushed metal dial ring and solid wood centre create a layered, graphic look that's become a signature of this era of German clock design. The step seconds hand gives a genuine audible tick — a small but satisfying detail that pure quartz clocks usually lack. Signed "Kienzle Variogong, Made in Germany" on the dial.

Specifications

Manufacturer: Kienzle, Germany

Model: Variogong

Era: 1970s

Case: Teak, octagonal

Dial: Brushed chrome/aluminium with wood centre boss, black baton markers

Dimensions: 28.5cm x 28.5cm

Movement: New quartz movement fitted, audible step-seconds tick

Ready to hang

Condition

Perfect vintage condition throughout.
