1960s Anstey & Wilson teak and brass starburst wall clock — a striking geometric sunburst wall clock with tiered, diamond-cut Burmese teak points radiating from a brushed brass sunburst face. 43cm (17 inches) diameter, 17cm (6.75 inch) dial, new silent quartz movement, fully working. Ready to hang.

A bold, sculptural sunburst that still holds its own on a wall six decades on.

Anstey & Wilson

Anstey & Wilson were English clockmakers active through the 1960s and 70s, best known today for exactly this kind of design — sunburst and starburst wall clocks pairing warm teak "rays" with polished brass fittings and brass dials. Alongside makers like Metamec and Smiths, Anstey & Wilson pieces were part of the wave of affordable, design-led wall clocks that brought a Scandinavian-influenced, atomic-age look into ordinary British sitting rooms. Original examples are increasingly sought after by mid-century collectors, and this piece retains its maker's signature on the dial.

Design & Styling

What sets this example apart from the more common single-spike sunburst is its layered, geometric point design — each teak "petal" is faceted into two overlapping diamond shapes, giving the whole piece a fuller, more flower-like silhouette than a plain dagger-ray starburst. The teak has a warm honey-brown tone that pairs beautifully with the brushed brass rays, case, and dial, while bold black Roman numerals and a stepped seconds hand give the face real presence under the domed glass.

At 43cm across, it's a genuine statement piece without tipping into oversized — substantial enough to anchor a hallway, living room, or dining wall, but easy to hang without specialist fixings.
