Gent of Leicester GPO Wall Clock 1970 Vintage Industrial 12 Inch Quartz
Original GPO Slave Clock by Gent of Leicester, 1970
A genuine Gent of Leicester GPO slave clock dating from 1970, supplied to the General Post Office and stamped to the back 630818 / 76A 0AA 70/MKI confirming the exact manufacture date. These clocks were installed in post offices, telephone exchanges and government buildings across Britain and are now among the most collectable of all British industrial timepieces.
This example has a clean white dial with the original GPO maker's mark, original black spade hands retained, and a spun aluminium case in very good condition with no significant marks to case or glass. The slave movement has been replaced with a modern quartz battery movement so the clock runs independently with a single AA battery — no master clock required.
