IKEA PS 1999 Keyhole Clock Red Thomas Eriksson Scandinavian Design Storage Cabinet Vintage Quartz
An icon of late 1990s Scandinavian design — the IKEA PS keyhole clock and storage cabinet designed by Thomas Eriksson, in the most sought-after red colourway. This is a piece with genuine design pedigree: the PS keyhole clock is held in the permanent collection of the IKEA Museum and was launched at the Milan Furniture Fair in 1995 as part of IKEA's "Democratic Design" initiative — a programme that brought together some of Scandinavia's most considered design talent to create affordable objects of real quality and lasting appeal.
The oversized keyhole silhouette in lacquered red steel is immediately striking. The circular clock face sits in the upper arch, while the lower body opens on a hinge to reveal an internal shelf — a small storage cabinet for keys, cards, or everyday essentials. Wall-mounted via two fixings or freestanding on a surface.
This example is dated 1999 and is in excellent condition — no scratches, no blemishes, no marks. The quartz movement is working. Red is a discontinued colourway — only blue remains in current IKEA production. A red example in this condition is increasingly hard to find.
