A genuinely exceptional piece of West German modernist design — a 1970s Kienzle Design wall clock in brushed aluminium, with twelve vivid orange dome hour markers set in brushed chrome bezels radiating across the face. The flat square aluminium plate, machined with a fine brushed finish, carries the "Kienzle design" logotype in a restrained lower-case serif that speaks directly to the design-conscious positioning of the sub-brand. Slim polished aluminium hands complete a composition of absolute graphic clarity — bold, minimal, and entirely resolved.

Fitted with its original German quartz movement — not a replacement. 24.5cm × 26.5cm (9¾ × 10½ inches), 1½ inches deep. Ready to hang.

Kienzle — Germany's Greatest Clock Maker

Kienzle was founded in Schwenningen in the Black Forest in 1883 and grew to become one of the most important clock manufacturers in the world. In the 1960s, Kienzle produced dashboard clocks for Mercedes-Benz, Rolls-Royce and Bentley — an indication of the precision and prestige the brand commanded. By the 1970s, Kienzle had become the market leader in Germany, and the "Kienzle Design" sub-brand was producing some of the most considered and collectible modernist clock designs of the era.

The brushed aluminium square clock of this period represents Kienzle Design at its most confident — no numerals, no ornament, just twelve orange dome hour markers on a machined aluminium ground. The orange against brushed silver is a pairing that belongs unmistakably to the 1970s German design moment — bold, warm and completely assured. The original German quartz movement is intact and working — a detail that matters to collectors, as unmodified examples with their factory movements are significantly rarer than those that have been converted.

This is a clock that would sit naturally alongside Braun products, Dieter Rams-era pieces, or any serious collection of West German modernism. Premium dealers list comparable examples at £400–£500. This is an opportunity to acquire a genuinely significant piece at a fraction of that.
