Metamec — Britain's largest clock manufacturer

Metamec went into receivership in December 1984, bringing British clock production at their Dereham, Norfolk factory to an end after nearly four decades. At their peak they employed 750 people, produced 350 models, and made 25,000 clocks a week — becoming the largest clock manufacturer in the UK. The 4647 sunburst was one of their signature large-format designs, and this chrome-and-teak colourway shows a different side of it — sharper and more monochrome than the warm brass version, closer in spirit to the space-age and Scandinavian design influences of the period.

At 60 cm (23½ inches) diameter, this is a genuinely commanding piece — large enough to anchor a living room, hallway, or office wall, with real sculptural presence.
