Metamec Wall Clock Model 5867 Red Silver Original 1960s Transistor Chrome

A beautifully preserved Metamec wall clock, Model 5867, in a bold red and silver colourway with a polished chrome bezel. Completely original — original transistor movement, original hands, untouched and unrestored — and running perfectly, keeping accurate time.

A genuine piece of British clockmaking history

Metamec was founded around 1941 in Dereham, Norfolk, as an offshoot of furniture makers Jentique — the name itself derived from "metal-work and mechanics." By the 1960s and 70s Metamec had grown into the largest clock manufacturer in the UK, employing around 750 people and producing some 25,000 clocks a week across 350 different models. This Model 5867, from the 1960s, pairs a punchy red and silver dial with a crisp chrome surround — a striking, graphic look that's pure mid-century design.

Fully original, nothing replaced

Unlike many vintage clocks on the market, this one hasn't been restored or converted — it retains its original transistor movement and original hands throughout, and still runs perfectly, keeping good time. The convex glass face, dial, and chrome bezel are all in excellent vintage condition. For collectors who value originality, this is as true to factory-spec as a 1960s Metamec gets.

8 inches in diameter, with bold silver numerals set against the red dial and a polished silver centre disc — a real statement piece for a kitchen, hallway, or living room wall.
