Paico 1960s Starburst Wall Clock — Brass & Teak Sunburst, 38cm

A compact and beautifully made 1960s Paico starburst wall clock, fitted with a new UTS quartz movement and the original hands retained.

Alternating long brass spikes and shorter teak spikes radiate from a brass bezel, giving this smaller sunburst a dense, busy starburst effect without the wall footprint of the larger showpiece clocks.

Paico of London

Paico is a lightly documented British clock maker whose name appears on a range of mid-century wall and cuckoo clocks made in England, generally dated to the 1950s–60s. Detailed company records are scarce, but surviving pieces consistently show careful construction and good-quality materials, and this starburst is no exception.

The dial and construction

Alternating long brass spikes and shorter teak spikes surround a 15cm dial, finished with a gold-tone face carrying bold black Arabic numerals and the Paico signature below twelve. Slender blackened original hands have been retained, and a new UTS quartz movement keeps the clock silent and accurate while preserving its original character.

Being more compact than many sunburst clocks of the era, this is a versatile size — equally at home in a smaller room, hallway, or grouped alongside other pieces, without losing any of the sunburst drama.
