Pair Oak Table Lamps, 1960s, Original Fibreglass Shades, Rewired, Mid Century Modern

A charming and beautifully presented matched pair of vintage turned oak table lamps — compact, warm and entirely of the 1960s, with their original period spun fibreglass drum shades intact. At just under 12 inches tall these are perfectly proportioned bedside, console or side table lamps — the kind of pair that transforms a room without dominating it.

The bases are turned from solid dark oak in a classic bottle or flask form — a waisted neck tapering to a broad cylindrical lower body — a shape that is one of the defining gestures of Scandinavian-influenced British lighting design of the 1960s. The grain and warm dark tone of the oak are shown to their best in the refinished bases. New brass bayonet bulb holders and new plugs have been fitted throughout.

The original spun fibreglass drum shades are the highlight — ivory in colour, with the characteristic fine linear spiral texture of the period. When lit they glow with a warm, diffused light that no modern shade can replicate. Both shades are in very good condition for their age.

Both lamps are fully rewired and tested — ready to use straight away.
