Junghans and the Ato-Mat movement

Junghans was founded in 1861 in Schramberg, Germany, by Erhard Junghans, and grew to become one of the largest clock manufacturers in the world by the early 20th century. From the 1960s onward the company was at the forefront of early electronic timekeeping, and the Ato-Mat movement fitted here was part of that generation: a battery-powered transistorised mechanism that predates quartz technology, genuinely interesting for collectors who want an authentic vintage movement rather than a later quartz conversion.

Condition

This example has its original mechanism intact and keeps perfect time. There's some tarnish to the brass face and case consistent with age and honest use, which only adds to the character of a piece built this solidly. The dial carries the Junghans Electronic and Ato-Mat branding along with "West-Germany," Roman numerals, and ornate brass corner mounts.
