Vintage Metamec Wall Clock — Roman Numerals, Champagne Dial, Chrome Bezel, Cream Case, 1970s
A striking piece from Metamec — and for once that's not just a figure of speech. This 1970s wall clock pairs a brushed silver and champagne two-tone dial with bold black Roman numerals, set behind flat glass in a clean cream case with a bright faux chrome bezel.
Metamec: Britain's largest clockmaker
Metamec was based in East Dereham, Norfolk, and by the 1960s had grown into the largest clock manufacturer in Britain, producing around 25,000 clocks a week at its peak. The firm is best remembered today for its iconic sunburst designs, but its Roman numeral dials like this one were just as much a fixture of British homes through the 1960s and 70s. Metamec closed its doors in the 1990s, which makes surviving pieces in good condition genuinely collectable rather than just decorative.
Restored and ready to hang
This example has been fitted with a new quartz movement and a silent sweeping second hand, with hands re-matched to the original style so nothing looks out of place. No ticking, no trailing cables — just wind it up on the wall and it keeps perfect time.
