An elaborately decorative Junghans

This is one of the more decorative wall clocks Junghans produced in the 1960s — the combination of hand-worked wrought iron scrollwork, twelve brass-jointed accent points, and deeply textured hammered copper-tone dial gives it a presence well above standard production clocks of the era. The brass Roman numerals sit cleanly against the warm dimpled ground, and the brass hands complete a palette that is entirely consistent and considered. At 33 cm diameter it commands a wall without overwhelming a space.

The design sits naturally in mid-century modern, Hollywood Regency, and maximalist interiors — the wrought iron scrollwork giving it a warmth and craftsmanship that cast or pressed metal frames cannot replicate.

Junghans was founded in Schramberg in the Black Forest in 1861 and grew to become one of the world's largest clock manufacturers, producing over 500 million timepieces across their history. The "Electronic" designation marks this as part of their pioneering transistorised movement range — among the first in the world to replace the traditional mechanical escapement with electronic timekeeping. A new quartz movement has been fitted for reliable silent everyday use.
