Late Dereham production — one of the last brass sunbursts Metamec made

Metamec went into receivership in December 1984, bringing British clock production at their Dereham, Norfolk factory to an end after nearly four decades. At their peak they employed 750 people, produced 350 models, and made 25,000 clocks a week — becoming the largest clock manufacturer in the UK. The brass 5629 is a late-production example from the final years of the original Dereham factory, giving it a genuine end-of-an-era significance.

The brass finish — warmer and richer than chrome

Where the chrome 5629 is cool and modernist, the brass finish gives this clock a warmth and richness that suits a wider range of interiors — from mid century modern and Hollywood Regency to maximalist, eclectic, and traditional spaces.
