IKEA PS 1995 Keyhole Clock – Green, Thomas Eriksson, NOS Original Box
A genuine piece of design history — the IKEA PS 1995 keyhole clock by Swedish architect Thomas Eriksson, in discontinued green, new old stock in its original box, never used.
Designed by Thomas Eriksson and launched at the Milan Furniture Fair in 1995, the PS 1995 clock became one of the defining objects of 1990s Scandinavian design. Its slightly plump, keyhole silhouette was inspired by the top section of traditional floor clocks, reinterpreted with a clean, minimalist modernism that stood in deliberate contrast to the excesses of 1980s design.
The clock was discontinued from the main IKEA range in 2005 and is now held in the permanent collection of Sweden's Nationalmuseum as an example of tone-setting Swedish design. Eriksson's 1992 Cross medicine cabinet for Cappellini — the direct creative predecessor to this clock — is held in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. He is also co-founder of Stockholm Design Lab, the studio behind the visual identity of the Nobel Prize.
The green colourway is discontinued and increasingly sought-after by collectors and design enthusiasts. Behind the clock face, the front door opens to reveal a small internal shelf — a characteristically witty piece of functional design that doubles the object's usefulness. This example is new old stock in its original IKEA PS 1995 box, unused and in perfect condition.
