A stunning and near-mint example of one of the finest mid-century German wall clocks ever produced — the Kienzle Automatic in its most desirable teal turquoise colourway. Large, bold and beautifully made, this clock combines a vivid teal metal body in the characteristic rounded square form with a solid brass bezel, pristine convex glass and a white concave dial with teal radiating line indices and gold rectangular hour markers. The hands are concave gold — shaped to follow the curve of the dial surface — a design refinement that speaks directly to the quality and attention to detail that defined Kienzle's output at the height of their 1960s production.

The clock was originally fitted with a Kienzle Automatic movement — confirming its 1960s manufacture — which has since been replaced with a new battery quartz movement and matched concave gold hands. The clock is ready to hang and use straight away.

Kienzle — Germany's Oldest Clock Maker

Kienzle were founded in Schwenningen in 1822, making them Germany's oldest clock manufacturer. At their peak they were producing five million clocks per year and had established branches in Milan, Paris and London. Such was the quality of their precision engineering that in the 1960s Kienzle were chosen to produce dashboard clocks for Mercedes-Benz, Rolls-Royce and Bentley — a credential that sets them apart from every other domestic clock maker of the period. This Automatic wall clock represents that same engineering tradition applied to the domestic interior: beautifully designed, precisely made, and built to last.

Near new old stock condition. The teal metal body is more or less unmarked with only a few barely noticeable blemishes consistent with careful storage. The solid brass bezel is in very good condition. The convex glass is pristine and unmarked throughout. The white concave dial is clean and bright. The new concave gold hands are matched to the originals. The new quartz movement is fitted and working.
