Kienzle International Chronoquartz Mantel Clock, 1970s Brushed Gold Aluminium, Chrome Corners
1970s Kienzle International "Chronoquarz" mantel clock — a striking angular table clock in brushed gold aluminium with bold chrome corner detailing. 19 x 15 x 7 cm, genuine original Junghans quartz movement, fully working and keeping perfect time. Ready to display.
A design that means business.
Kienzle is one of Germany's oldest and most respected clockmakers, founded in 1883 in Schwenningen, in the heart of the Black Forest clockmaking region. By the 1970s, Kienzle had fully embraced the era's bold, geometric design language, and this piece — part of the "Chronoquartz" line launched in 1974 — is a strong example of that shift: confident, architectural, and unmistakably of its decade.
Interestingly, while the case and dial are signed Kienzle International, the clock is fitted with a genuine Junghans quartz movement — a detail worth knowing, since German clockmakers of this era frequently sourced movements from one another. Junghans is itself one of Germany's most celebrated names in horology, so this is a case of two respected manufacturers combined in one piece.
A striking, angular design
The case is finished in a warm brushed gold aluminium, with four bold chrome corner brackets that give the whole piece real presence — a distinctive detail rarely seen on clocks of this type. The dial keeps things classic underneath the bold casing: crisp black Roman numerals on the brushed gold face, with elegant chrome hands. The case tilts back on an angled stand, designed to sit confidently on a mantel, shelf, or desk.
This is a genuinely used vintage piece rather than new old stock — tested and confirmed to keep perfect time on its original Junghans movement.
