A warm and well-made West German wall clock from the 1970s by Meister-Anker — a piece that combines the natural richness of solid oak with the refined precision of German quartz clock engineering in a composition of quiet confidence and considerable appeal.

The solid oak case has beautifully pronounced grain throughout, its rounded square form with softened corners giving the clock a friendly, organic character that sits equally naturally in a traditional or contemporary interior. The circular gold-tone metal dial ring is set into the face with precision — its brushed gold surface carrying twelve paired baton markers, each one a gold bar set against a short black line, arranged around the dial with a regularity and crispness that speaks directly to the German engineering tradition. The wood grain of the oak is visible through the open centre of the dial ring, making the material itself part of the composition — an unusual and thoroughly satisfying design decision. The Meister-Anker name and crown logo appear at twelve. Slim gold-tone baton hands matched to the originals. New quartz movement, silent.

11 × 11 inches (28 × 28cm). Ready to hang.

Meister-Anker — West German Precision

Meister-Anker was a West German clock and watch manufacturer producing pieces of reliable quality and considered design during the 1970s and 1980s. Their domestic clock range brought the precision engineering standards of German horology to the home market — pieces that were made to last, designed to please and priced for real living rooms rather than collectors' cabinets. The oak-cased wall clock was among their most enduring domestic designs — a piece that has aged gracefully and is increasingly sought after by buyers who appreciate honest, well-made German design from an era when durability was a given rather than a selling point.

The solid oak case on this example has the warm, pronounced grain of genuinely good wood — not veneer over chipboard, but solid timber with the character and presence that only real wood develops over decades.
