A bold and handsome vintage wall clock by Metamec — the model 5868, one of the most enduringly versatile designs produced at the Dereham factory during the 1960s. This example carries the warmer brass bezel finish rather than the more common chrome, giving it a richer, more golden tone that sits particularly well in mid-century, warm contemporary and eclectic interiors. The white embossed dial with bold raised black Arabic numerals is paired with red hour and minute hands and a contrasting black seconds hand — a striking colour combination with real period character.

Originally mains powered, the clock has been converted to battery quartz with new hands matched to the originals, and is ready to hang straight away.

Metamec

Metamec were based in Dereham, Norfolk, and at their peak were the largest clock manufacturer in the United Kingdom, producing 350 models and 25,000 clocks per week. "Made in England" is marked on the dial.
